Where does Xero store data?

Is Xero secure?

Furthermore, within the Xero software, we are able to set up multiple layers of security, such as two-step verification, where required. Is Xero better than Sage?
The answer is that it depends on your business. Xero is well-known for being one of the easiest bookkeeping softwares to use, providing real-time views of your business’s cash flow to be accessed across multiple devices. If your company is much larger, you may benefit more from Sage, which is the leading software for integrated accounting, payroll and payment systems, but is less agile in terms of its omnichannel capabilities. Is Xero compatible with Making Tax Digital (MTD)?
Xero has worked closely with HMRC for over three years to ensure that businesses are supported through the transition to MTD that came into effect in April 2019. Now, Xero software is equipped to ensure that you can fulfil your Making Tax Digital obligations.

Will I need to run updates on Xero?
No. As Xero is a cloud based software when updates are available these happen behind the scenes with no downtime required or input from an IT department. Each month updates are released to ensure that Xero is kept up to date with HMRC legislation and improvements to the software based on user feedback.
Do I need to back up my Xero?
With cloud based bookkeeping software there is no need to run a regular back up of the data and save this to your computer. As the information is stored in the cloud it is not situated on your local PC and therefore you can be safe in knowledge that if you needed to replace your PC or it crashed, your accounting data will not be lost.
