September 2019 Newsletter
I would like to start this quarter’s newsletter off with an update on some changes within AMR itself. Firstly, after 12 years with AMR Carolyn Murphy retired at the end of June. We owe a lot of our success and development to Carolyn and she will be missed by us all. Taking over Carolyn’s role heading up the bookkeeping team is Clare Ayres who is based in our Chatham Dockyard office.
In August we saw Jenny Williams go on maternity leave with her second child and since the start of the year Lillian and Holly have joined the team.
CIS Reverse Charge
Looking ahead for the rest of 2019 HMRC planned a big change for the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) with a new domestic reverse charge for VAT that would come into effect, specifically for Contractors and Subcontractors working within the scope of the CIS scheme.
On 6 September HMRC announced that they would be delaying the implementation of this reverse charge until 1 October 2020.
We will of course be in touch closer to the new implementation date with further information on how this affects our clients.
Have you heard of Receipt Bank?
Don’t worry if you haven’t, we are here to tell you all about it and how it can take a lot of your accounts admin off your hands.
Receipt Bank is a web based system that supports you in keeping track of your invoices and receipts and lets you share them with your bookkeeper in real time, consider it your digital filing cabinet!
Receipts and invoices can be uploaded in a variety of different ways depending on what suits you best:
- On your computer, any files on your PC or MAC can be uploaded straight to Receipt Bank.
- By email, each Receipt Bank account has its own unique email address that invoices can be sent to, this can be great when used with mail rules in your email inbox.
- On the go, using the smart phone app receipts and invoices can be snapped as a picture and uploaded straight to Receipt Bank.
- While you have a nap!! Not kidding, for a growing number of suppliers, such as Amazon and British Gas, Receipt Bank can be set up to automatically retrieve your invoices without you having to do a thing!
Once you have uploaded your documents to Receipt Bank you can view them through your web browser, search by supplier, date or value and download copies as PDF’s. So you will always have sight of your documents even when we are working with them.
We are looking to roll this system out to all of our clients and your bookkeeper should be in contact with you soon to talk about how this can help you. Alternatively please do get in contact with us if this is something you are keen on implementing sooner.
OneClick Portal
Keeping on the theme of digitalisation, we are introducing a new secure portal system to communicate with our clients. With the increased risk of online fraud and the new GDPR legislation introduced last year, this system will allow you to seamlessly connect and communicate with us and can be accessed anytime, anywhere.
Once you have activated your account any VAT return, payroll report or other document or email that would normally be sent through Outlook or another email provider, ie gmail, will be sent via OneClick for your attention and digital approval. As this is a secure portal environment we can rest at ease knowing your confidential company data is kept safe.
We will be touch with you in due course with an activation email but should you wish to implement this sooner then please do get in touch with Caroline (choare@amrbs.co.uk).
Feedback
To help us give our clients the exceptional support we strive for we would welcome any feedback from you, be it service or perhaps our quarterly newsletters.
Kind regards
Estelle
