It’s been another great year for us here at AMR, with a move to new premises, new staff welcomed to the team, and an ever-expanding portfolio of valued clients.
Here on our blog, we’ve discussed many of the issues that relate to the day-to-day financial challenges faced by small and medium-sized businesses in the UK.
For example, we looked at the increasing pressure on clients in the construction sector to meet CIS rules on labour and materials. We have a number of clients who work in the construction and building industry in Kent and the South East, and so this is a topic we’ve been watching closely.
We’ve also been advising on the government’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) initiative. As many will be aware, the original timetable for this scheme has been subject to a number of delays, partly because the government had to scale back the project to enable it to focus on Brexit planning.
But MTD is due to come into force for VAT-registered businesses with a taxable turnover above the VAT registration threshold in April 2019. Read more about MTD for VAT in our recent blog. If this fast-approaching deadline is giving you sleepless nights, now is the time to get in touch for expert advice from our bookkeeping team.
A review of our year wouldn’t be complete without a mention of GDPR – the new data privacy rules that came into force across the EU in May. As bookkeepers, we store a huge amount of personal data, so the run-up to the GDPR deadline was a particularly busy time for us as we worked to ensure all our processes were fully compliant with the new regulations. Rest assured we met all our deadlines and protect every client’s data appropriately, guaranteeing complete privacy and discretion in all our business transactions.
